While I was gone......

It's been quite a while since I've posted on here, and I'm so behind with posting my pics, have taken quite alot since my last update. We recently visited Brecon Beacons, and while visiting my family we ventured out and got some pics of the waterfall and the area I grew up in, which brought alot of fond memories back :) That was only recently and as yet haven't gone through them on my camera and edited, but for know will leave you with some random photos I've taken here and there.....Oh and how can I forget to tell you! I recently became the proud owner of a Nikon D5100...my first DSLR, very kindly bought for me by my parents, taking some time to fully get used to it, but loving the extra capabilities it has over my previous fuji film s200 exr, which I do miss, but is now in good hands in Scotland! :)

I was so happy to get this shot...was out on a photo walk with the kids, and noticed the moon was out and it wasn't far from this big crane, so just had to re-position the tripod to line the moon up under the crane, would have been nice if I could have zoomed in a bit more to make the moon look a tad bigger, but I'm happy with it all the same :D

And that's it for now folks...will check in again soon! :D

Venturing into Manual Mode....

Hello & Salaams!!

Well I've been busy here snapping away! Trying to stay a bit more consistent with my photography, it's so easy to lose motivation, but I've found the best way to keep it going is simply to get out there and keep shooting (photographic subjects of course!!). Lately I've ventured off to Barry Island and Penarth Pier, which I would really love to return to very soon god willing, maybe on a less cloudy day.

For most days you'll find me searching my average sized garden for interesting things to shoot, much to the amusement of my neighbours if they every catch sight of me out there! Some of the best shots are taken down low by the floor, which means getting a tad dirty, but thats the price you pay I suppose :)

Just a few days ago I decided to dive into the world of manual mode setting, taking full control of my camera, rather a daunting task, but I was up for the challenge nonetheless!

That day the wind was my biggest challenge, so I aimed for a high shutter speed, and also tried out lower shutter speeds just for experimental purposes. I'll continue practicing in manual mode, although I do find myself often returning to aperture mode, but it is a step away from automatic, so slowly making progress I suppose :)

Right now I'm really considering buying a new camera, I currently use fujifilm s200exr which is a pretty decent camera, but I think I'm now ready to move up to a DSLR, preferably Nikon or Canon, better start the saving fund then!! But I look forward to the day when I can get my hands on one! insha Allah (God willing)

If like me, you often take photos with your iphone, but want to know how to improve the look of them, then you may be interested in a new ebook that's just come out by Misho Baranovic, and digital photography school,  showing you how to take creative control of your iphone and get the best out of it. I purchased the book myself yesterday, as yet have not started reading it, but definitely eager to start!

By the way, I am not affiliated in any way with 'digital photography school', so I'm not gaining anything out of sharing this link, just so you know :)

A walk along Penarth Pier....

Good afternoon! (well here in the UK anyway! :) )

The weathers pretty gloomy here today, had wanted to take a walk from Cardiff Bay along to Penarth, but may put on hold for another day!

Took a trip to Penarth Pier yesterday, first time! it's taken me this long to actually go there, and it's only 5/10 minutes up the road! We did get a bit lost, but managed to arrive shortly before sunset. Was slightly overcast though, but did manage to get a few nice shots.

This one below was taken with iphone 3, as we were driving by, bit too much noise in the sky for my liking, but apart from that, quite pleased how it turned out..

On a cloudy beach.....

Hello & Salaams!

Popping back in to post a few recent pics I've taken, My youngest broke his arm on Sunday, which meant an overnight stay at the hospital, he double fractured his arm, but he's doing really well alhamdulillah.

Took a nice afternoon trip to Barry Island a few days ago, the weather wasn't really on our side that day, was lovely when we got there, but as soon as we got up a bit higher on the mountain the dark clouds started moving in, think its the first time I've actually been at the beach when it's rained, which was kind of nice in a way :)

Using the pro-HDR app on iphone

Untitled

While at my mums recently I took some photos using my iphone, really need to start remembering to take my   camera everywhere I go! I took the photo above with the pro HDR app, which I find produces some pretty good pictures. Probably not the best photo I could have taken, but theres just something about the houses below with the washing on the line...don't ask! lol
